I can only just imagine your dad's monologue / dialogue in my mind. Bob's Big Boy - ah, the memories..... I remember taking time off from college & going to the 1982 World's Fair in my home town with my mom. Looking back on displays of satellites, proposed space probes, models of future aircraft, then looking at fragments of China's Great Wall & Incan / Chimu mummies from Peru, followed by visits to Duncan Donuts ( Worth the trip ! ). The memories are part of me, although my relatives here - specifically my closest cousin ( at least geographically ) act like they're LESS than uninterested.

The things that an image can extract.....

i'm so glad you have such good memories of your father, Darrin- the few good memories of mine are largely overshadowed by his horrific verbal and physical abuse of my mother and myself (almost never my 2 younger siblings), and then after my parents divorced when i was 12, the monster went on to molest his 2 stepdaughters, aged 12 and 14, for 2 1/2 years

Funny not ha-ha: it’s far from Father’s Day and my dad (z”l) has been gone 36 years. (Mom, 23 years.) How could someone of my memories feel like what you’ve written? I told someone again today I have reverse Alzheimer’s- I remember now not then and it was so long ago. What did we learn and experience subliminally that impacts us so? Tomorrow a new week and I need less retrospection. What about Lemont?
