I stand against fear and hope to be worthy of Ann Telnaes

This sort of censorship has always been around at least it has been obvious from my childhood. My father was a commentator for the Mutual Broadcasting System during WW2 who ruffled some feathers and got canned. This was followed by a slow descent into local broadcasting which followed the same path as he crossed swords with Nancy Pelosi's father who at the time was the Mayor of Baltimore. The descent continued until he died essentially impoverished at 59 in 1960.

The powers that be have always been around are faithful to no party save themselves. They meet on the golf course at the local country club and slap each other on the back. An old saw to be sure, but the more things change the more they stay the same

My work has cost me as I am sure yours has cost and probably will continue to cost you.

The smell of fear is in the air. Editorial illustrators are the fire fighters running to danger to dampen the smoldering coals to prevent a flare-up that could consume or democracy. Thank you!

Huge respect and admiration for Ann Telnaes, Darrin Bell, and the many other journalists - print, podcast, editorial illustration ('cartoon'), etc. - whose integrity, courage and commitment in the face of increasing publishing consolidation and capitulation to the forces of control and cowardice remain steadfast. Informative and enlightening post. Thanks, Darrin.

Your work is to inspire and inform as you draw each character so carefully. Political cartooning has been around for centuries. Any resignation from these once highly regarded newspapers should be seen as a slap in the face to those who have shown their true colors. Bowing down is cowardice. Resigning is bravery.

Thank you, Elayne.

The Washington Post also fired Michael De Adder two weeks after he began drawing for them. The editors appear to be more interested in 'human interest' illustrations than political cartoons.

I agree, it is becoming a horror story against freedom of the press in a twisted way that the Very wealthy are supporting a LIAR, Criminal, Traitor to protect their vast wealth. Welcome to Putin and Orban's world. So far, I haven't seen Mike Luckovich's political cartoons on Facebook stopped.
